Spaces that invite you to slow down.
Los Angeles continues to influence how we think about space.
Each month, we’ll continue to share a considered selection of places and experiences across Los Angeles that reflect how environments shape perception and connection. These are not trends. They are signals of where culture, design, and place intersect with intention.
This April, we’re listening closely, watching thoughtfully, and gathering with purpose.

The Neutra VDL House
A study in restraint, light, and reflection. Originally designed by Richard Neutra as both a residence and experimental studio, the space explores how architecture can shape daily life through transparency, proportion, and connection to its surroundings. Layered with water, mirrored surfaces, and controlled daylight, it rewards quiet observation and a slower, more intentional pace.

LA FilmForum presents The Films of Gordon Matta-Clark at 2220 Arts + Archives
An intimate screening of the artist’s rarely seen short films documenting his iconic “building cuts” of the 1970s. Blurring art, architecture, and performance, the work challenges conventional ideas of structure, space, and permanence—inviting viewers to reconsider the built environment in a more radical, experiential way.

Café Nido
A tucked-away Silverlake restaurant designed as much around atmosphere as it is food. Set within a garden-like environment, the space blends natural materials, soft light, and open-air dining to create a calm, immersive experience.
