David Lynch’s Los Angeles — Philosophical Research Society
A reading of Los Angeles through the lens of David Lynch.
Presented by historian Amanda Karkoutly of @cahuengapast, the lecture traces the city through select film locations and overlooked sites tied to Lynch’s work. Familiar streets, buildings, and landscapes take on a different weight when viewed through this lens.
The focus is less on cinema itself and more on atmosphere. How light, scale, and context shape perception. How the everyday environment can hold both clarity and unease.
Los Angeles emerges as both setting and subject. A city defined as much by what is visible as what sits just beneath it.

A temporary space built around fire, food, and the rhythm of the World Cup.
Chef Diego Argoti and Skyduster Beer transform an industrial setting into a gathering point that evolves throughout the tournament. Live-fire cooking anchors the experience, while music and screens tuned to each match shape the atmosphere as it unfolds.

Pickwick Vintage Show — The Narrows, DTLA
A large-scale vintage market drawing collectors, designers, and those who look closely at objects.
Over 70 exhibitors present clothing, textiles, jewelry, and found pieces spanning decades. The focus is less on trend and more on construction, material, and the stories embedded within each item.
Set within an industrial DTLA space, the experience moves between discovery and observation. Rows of objects, fragments of past eras, and unexpected details reveal themselves gradually.
A place to source, reference, and understand how objects carry history forward.
