Cine Opera — Arts District
An Italian aperitivo and wine bar built around the ritual of watching film. Upstairs on East 3rd Street, wine, conversation, and cinema come together in a setting designed to make an evening out of the screening.
A rotating film program gives the space its rhythm, bringing a little moviegoing into the aperitivo hour. Cine Opera publishes its weekly film schedule and special events through its mailing list.

MAK Artists + Architects-in-Residence — Mackey Apartments
For six months, Alexandra Kahl, Axel Koschier, and Sarah Silbernagel have lived and worked inside R.M. Schindler’s 1939 Mackey Apartments as the 59th group of MAK Artists- and Architects-in-Residence.
Their residency culminates in Final Projects: Group LIX, bringing the work developed during their time in Los Angeles into direct conversation with the building where they lived and worked. The opening reception takes place September 10, with the exhibition continuing through September 13.

Melrose Gallery Walk with Lawson Fenning and 22RE — Melrose
An evening spent moving between some of Melrose’s best design destinations. Hostler Burrows, Lawson-Fenning, Meg Turner, Object, Seventh House, The Window, and 22RE open their doors for the neighborhood’s annual gallery walk.
Furniture, art, objects, and interiors unfold across several stops, turning Melrose into an informal design crawl and giving us a good reason to see what our neighbors are showing this fall.

Paul Pfeiffer: Olympia — Perrotin Los Angeles
Paul Pfeiffer returns to Los Angeles with Olympia, a solo exhibition at Perrotin. Known for reworking the visual language of sports, celebrity, and mass spectacle, Pfeiffer examines how images shape the way we watch, gather, and experience collective culture.
It feels particularly relevant in Los Angeles, where the boundaries between entertainment, spectacle, media, and everyday life are constantly crossing.

The Holy Mountain — Vidiots
Alejandro Jodorowsky’s 1973 cult epic returns to the big screen at Vidiots. Surreal sets, extraordinary costumes, saturated color, and meticulously composed imagery make this one as compelling to look at as it is wonderfully strange to experience.
For anyone interested in the intersection of film, art direction, costume, architecture, and visual culture, nearly every frame gives you something to look at.

AGOLDE Flagship — Melrose Place
AGOLDE’s first flagship brings fashion, art, and materiality together on Melrose Place. Designed in collaboration with artist Niki Haas and Haas Studio with Montalba Architecture, the space takes a gallery-like approach to retail.
At its center is a custom pink marble “river” by Haas, joined by patinated brass fixtures and sculptural details that reward a closer look. It is a good example of retail becoming an experience of space, material, and brand all at once.
